counting colored cells

is there a simple way to add up colored cells on your sheet by rows or columns. how many yellows do I have in this row or column etc.

Excel Facts

Select all contiguous cells
Pressing Ctrl+* (asterisk) will select the "current region" - all contiguous cells in all directions.

If they are set by conditional formatting just use the same set of conditions to count them otherwise its a VBA job.
