Creating a menu of values to insert into columns

Hello,

Normally I would begin my research by running a quick search on the forums but my question is a bit specific.

What I wish to do is create a menu of items that will allow me to enter the quantity I want for that particular item and have that quantity pushed to the appropriate columns.

To be clear, the items listed in the menu correspond to the items listed in the columns. The reason why I need the menu is because I have a lot of other columns to fill out and would require a lot of horizontal scrolling, something I want to prevent.

Another issue is having too many items to list in the menu. To help with this, a scroll bar for the menu and a search function will be extremely helpful - though the latter is less important.

I've made a wireframe drawing to illustrate what I'm speaking of, which you can see here http://i.imgur.com/bzCD003.png

Any help, guidance is much appreciated.

Thank you,
Peter

I'd probably keep the data in more of a database fashion, where you have one row per order item (e.g. Order x could have xx rows, one for each Item & Quantity). That way the structure is not bound by products being listed in columns. You can also then use Pivot Tables to summarize the data.

There are plenty of Access templates for Order Entry too, so that's another route.
