Hi Everyone

I am starting learning about the huge capabilities of creating data models , power pivot ans DAX functions.

My company already has Hyperion Essbase which is a cube with all desired dimensions.

I have one simple (and maybe stupid) question. Is it really necessary for me to start building my data model if I have Hyperion Essbase?

I work within the finance department so I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Thanks

How can you automate Excel?
Press Alt+F11 from Windows Excel to open the Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
If you have a data model that meets all your needs and you can complete all your reporting requirements, then I think you’re good. It’s when it doesn’t meet your needs that you’re in trouble. As long as you can get Hyperion updated as needed in a timely fashion to meet your changing needs, you’re also good. But you can’t have 95% of a model in Hyperion with 5% in Power Pivot.
