Dates in Strings

Hi All,

I have a problem with dates in strings.

I have a list of text strings, of varying lengths, and each one contains a date in mm/yy format. Is there an easy/any way of extracting the date from each one?

Where are the list of text strings? In cells? Can we count on that anything that is ##/## is (or that is, should be) a date?

Yahya, that's smart, but it returns me the first 5 character string as far as I can see which in this case happens to be a different thing! Shame, coz that's a smart thing.

GTO, the strings are in cells.

Alternatively, a formula that simply looks for the last 5 characters in a string would work fine in this case, I'd just rather extend myself a bit!

Yaya's returns just the mm/yy for me. Could you show some example data?

=MID(A1,FIND("/",A1)-2,5)
assuming no other forward slashes.
