Deleted pivot table error

Hello
I am having this error pop up in a workbook every time I refresh data because a pivot table I created during development, now deleted, is still referenced and looked for somewhere in the system. I have tried several macros to clear the cache (deleted items etc), but the error persists.
'Cannot open PivotTable source file ...X'.
How do I make Excel forget this ever existed? It's not even used anywhere in the current version of the file.
Thanks

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
