Euro sign

I am using Excel 97 and trying to put "€" in format cells --> custom. Unfortunately, It disappear everything when I re open Excel spreadsheet. Is there any other ways to keep the sign on format cells? Please advise

Mhmm, not that I know of. I believe you must use a macro for this, and I'm pretty sure (Don't know the link though) that MS has an AddIn for this.

Use this custom format:

"euro"#,##0.00;"euro"(#,##0.00)

Thanks everyone's reply. I have downloaded the toolbar and is working accordingly.
