Excel 2013 ActiveX combobox not working with Excel 2007

I developed a macro with Excel 2013 which includes ActiveX comboboxes that execute some code. When I open that file with Excel 2007 and click on the ActiveX controls the code is not executed, nothing happens.

This has nothing to do with the December 2014 upgrade which I have not installed.

I see that experts advise the use of Forms rather than ActiveX, but I need a blue background color since all input cells are blue.

Copy a format multiple times
Select a formatted range. Double-click the Format Painter (left side of Home tab). You can paste formatting multiple times. Esc to stop
