Hi guys,
Quick one. Our Admin lady works with a password protected excel off a shared folder on another persons pc. (duh). She worked with an Excel document for the entire week. After saving it on friday, she walks in on Monday morning and it doesn't ask for a password nor does it contain anything. (I tried searching for it, all shortcuts come up blank etc. , tried opening excel then file|open). We know it was done because after it was saved it was printed and then the pc was shutdown etc. ( but the pc that it was accessing stays on permanently ). Apart from assuming human error, what else could the problem be? Cant really say who i work for and stuff cos we are kinda big, so this is critical!

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
Hi
A couple of things to try.
1. Use windows explorer to Search for the file.
2. Have a look in the recycle Bin for deleted files.
3. Is the system backed up. If so, Check the backup discs.
4. Did it get E-mailed to anyone at any stage. If so, check sent mail.

There are softwares around that will recover "deleted" files, but they can be costly.
Otherwise I'd imagine your in trouble.

You could also consider that the file may be hidden. So, you may have to check for those as well.
If, as you say, your in a big organisation, the backup will be the way to go.
