Excel not computing

In 2007, when a cell will not calculate...it just shows the formula and will not compute the result. I know that this was an easy fix in 2003 but i can not find it in 2007
Also, the data sheet was exported from a database, if that matters

It sounds like your cell is formatted as Text. Try changing the format of the cell to General, and then re-enter the formula.

Another way:

Replace "=" with "="
(without"")

Then Excel calculates new.
