I would like to create a function that returns the following:

1. 20% of the time it returns a value of 0
2. 80% of the time it returns a normal distribution with a mean of 0.4, stdev of 0.1 but never less than 0 or more than 1.

Please help!

Excel Facts

Ambidextrous Undo
Undo last command with Ctrl+Z or Alt+Backspace. If you use the Undo icon in the QAT, open the drop-down arrow to undo up to 100 steps.

I'm pretty sure you start with an If state. IF(RAND() is between 0 and 20 then 0, else then some distnormal function

Try: =IF(RAND()<=0.2,0,MIN(1,MAX(0,NORM.INV(RAND(),0.4,0.1))))
