I need column E to change color to yellow if the date is today's date and past.

Excel Facts

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
Select column E. Format > Conditional Formatting, select Formula Is on the dropdown and use the formula

=E1<=TODAY()

Apply a format and OK your way out.

Welcome to the board..

Conditional formatting should do the trick.

Steps will vary depending on version of Excel.
In XL2003

Highlight Column E (only the used rows though, not the ENTIRE column).
Click Format - Conditional Formatting
Select "Value is"
Select "Between"
Put a 1 in the first box
In the second box, put
=TODAY()
Click Format
Apply a Yellow Fill color
Click OK
Click OK

Hope that helps
