How to create a 'Floating' Total above stacked bar charts

All,

I have created a stacked bar chart, and displayed the lables so that I can see the values that relate to each section of the bar chart.

I would like to show the overall total for each stacked column on the chart, without adding it as a new series so it sits on top of all the others.

I've described it as a 'floating' total because I'd like the total for each stacked column to 'float' above the corresponding stack in the white space.

If anyone could help that would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Unfortunately that doesn't help me - the instructions seem to relate to an earlier version of excel I think? I'm on 2010. I can change the series to a secondary axis and make the line say 'no fill' so that you can't see it, but because of the way the numbers are positioned, they intersect with all the other content of the stacked column - I can't see how to align the totals so they sit in a straight line above the columns in the way that's indicated.
