How to get data from every other cell

I have a spreadsheet that for example:

has data in cells A1 through to A10
I want to extract the data onto another worksheet from A1, A3, A5, A7, A9 so I thought i could put =a1 in the first cell then =A3 in the second cell then use autofill by series but this didn't work

Anyone have an idea please

Try something like this:
=OFFSET(Sheet2!$A$1,2*ROW()-2,0)
and copy this down.
