How to save macros in separate drive.

I use two different PC computers at work and need to save my Excel macros on my H: drive, and point both computers to the H: drive location. Currently, only one computer can access them. I think the macros store as PERSONAL.XLSB

I'm using Excel 2016 on both computers.

Any help is much appreciated.

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
this is not really an excel question; its more a windows question.

you cannot make a local reference to an excel file that is on an entirely separate machine.

to the best of my knowledge, nor can you map drives in windows like you're describing.

you have a few options.

- create a virtual drive in windows
- use OneDrive and enable office 2016 to sync files
- create a networked drive and store your files there

Thanks for your reply. Perhaps I should explain this better... I use one computer, but I connect to my agency's network either via VPN or Citrix. VPN is preferred, because some apps must connect via VPN. The VPN is unreliable, however, sometimes necessitating I connect via Citrix. I might as well be using two computers, as my macros can only be accessed on the "computer" used to create them. The only thing they share is the list of agency drives, and in my case, I just need my personal H: drive.

Does this improve my position?

I'm not understanding what you are actually trying to accomplish. As in, what is your end goal?

Am I correct in first understanding that:

1. You are on your HOME computer, connecting to your WORK network via VPN.

2. You are trying to access your excel files which are stored on your works network, where you have a personal drive with the assigned letter of "H:"

If that is correct, then this is where I am confused:

as my macros can only be accessed on the "computer" used to create them

This simply is not the case. If you can successfully connect to your works VPN, and subsequently your personal network drive (H) then you therefore will be able to open your excel files and view your macro code.

If you are not able to access your personal H drive through the VPN, then that is a question for your companies IT department.
