If Cell Has Value/Not Blank, Then Insert in Spreadsheet (A) or If No Value, Insert in Other Spreadsheet

I'm trying to find out if this is even possible. I am working on a spreadsheet that I am combining information from two other spreadsheets. If a column has a date listed (not blank), then I would like to insert the contents of a different cell (so I can do VLOOKUP on the remaining cells).

So, for example, if Spreadsheet 2 Cell A5 has a date, I want to return the contents of Cell A2 to Spreadsheet 1(Table 1) Cell A2. I will then do a VLookup for the remaining cells based on A2 for Spreadsheet 3. If Spreadsheet 2, Cell A5 is blank, I want to return the contents of Cell A2 to Spreadsheet 1 (Table 2), Cell A10.

If this does not make sense, please let me know. Trying to work smarter, not harder... :)
