Live links between excel workbooks

I am curious to know if one could create a "management overview" workbook containing live links to various other workbooks. As such, the values on the single management workbook would change immediately after values were changed in any linked supporting workbooks. The tricky part would be that the values would need to be changing on a live basis while both workbooks are open. In effect, someone watching the management worksheet could view changes in a near real time basis and see how the overall values changed while employees entered data on the supporting workbooks. Is excel 2013 capable of this or is a specialty tracking software required?

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
When creating a connection , you can set the refresh time to ,lets say, 2 minutes so the data in the workbook will be updated automatically every 2 minutes. For an existing connection just go to : Data->Existing Connection, select your connection, open properties and chech the "Refresh Every" box in the Usage tab.
