mac excel 2011 pivot table not showing row totals

I'm using a pivot table to see sales in each state by year. I want to see what states have the greatest total sales, but my pivot table will not display row totals.

when I've clicked into the pivot table, I tried going to the design tab > totals, and "show for row" is already checked.

My pivot table viewer is set up like this:

report filter: [none]
column labels: values
row labels: State
Values: sales for 2012, sales for 2013, sales for 2014, sales for 2015
