I have a template file containing a macros that work wonderfully with extracting data from a spreadsheet received from a daily dump. This process woked wonderfully in Excel 2003 until I upgraded to Excel 2007. Now when I open windows explorer and navigate to my files as I would normally the data will not link. As if Excel is opening the files in two totally separate instances of Excel with out the ability to link data as was possible in Excel 2003. Only if I open 1 file and then click the office piece in the upper left and choose open will it allow me to open the file and link to the data. Is there a piece I can change to return to the old functionality?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
