Need some guidance to understand and create this kind of chart

I have come across a very interesting chart from Office Templates, however it seems too complex for me. All the data and working is there, it would be great if somebody would help me understand it, here is how the chart looks:

The chart is made for Excel 2013, which I am also using. The working is on the second sheet called 'scratch'

Did you ever work this one out? I have been playing with it and trying to add a fifth category - I get close to perfecting it but can't seem to completely get it right

No, I was using it with the existing categories. It was a pleasant surprise to get a reply on my thread after such a long time. Can you post your workbook?

here it is - "the proposal" of the data is where I have added the fifth category - as you can see, on the chart the proposal data has grouped itself with the solution data, when I try to add the proposal data as a seperate series in the chart the whole chart breaks<attachment></attachment><attachment></attachment>
