Problem with Chart Legend when Formatting Individual Data Points

I am attempting to "hide" the data connector line between two individual points by selecting the NONE option in the Format Data Point Pane. Like this:

<!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shapetype id="_x0000_t75" coordsize="21600,21600" o:spt="75" o:preferrelative="t" path="m@4@5l@4@11@9@11@9@5xe" filled="f" stroked="f"> <v:stroke joinstyle="miter"/> <v:formulas> <v:f eqn="if lineDrawn pixelLineWidth 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 1 0"/> <v:f eqn="sum 0 0 @1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @2 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="prod @3 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @0 0 1"/> <v:f eqn="prod @6 1 2"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelWidth"/> <v:f eqn="sum @8 21600 0"/> <v:f eqn="prod @7 21600 pixelHeight"/> <v:f eqn="sum @10 21600 0"/> </v:formulas> <v:path o:extrusionok="f" gradientshapeok="t" o:connecttype="rect"/> <o:lock v:ext="edit" aspectratio="t"/> </v:shapetype><v:shape id="_x0000_i1025" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:375pt; height:262.5pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\sweeney\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image001.jpg" o:href="http://www.firesnaps.com/Pictures/brllntnikki-d41cae2de1f43c2699f7e989a1c079df/298f053fa8e236ecf32713fc42736e5c/Medium/9b8ce178b137a5eb32d9353fd877ebcb.JPG"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

This works fine, however making this modification alters the chart legend. It removes the name I have assigned the series and instead displays a key for each individual data point. Like this:

<!--[if gte vml 1]><v:shape id="_x0000_i1026" type="#_x0000_t75" alt="" style='width:375pt;height:256.5pt'> <v:imagedata src="file:///C:\DOCUME~1\sweeney\LOCALS~1\Temp\msohtml1\01\clip_image002.jpg" o:href="http://www.firesnaps.com/Pictures/brllntnikki-d41cae2de1f43c2699f7e989a1c079df/298f053fa8e236ecf32713fc42736e5c/Medium/ef93dffe9ed86218b23ad3d67624aaa6.JPG"/> </v:shape><![endif]--><!--[if !vml]--><!--[endif]-->

So, as you may assume I do not want my data displayed like this. My question is:

How do I hide the data line and still maintain the appropriate legend (one series name for the only data path on the graph)??

This is making me crazy so any help you can offer is appreciated!!

Excel Facts

Round to nearest half hour?
Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
I don't know how to avoid that without changing your data. Insert a row between the points you don't want connected, make the date the same as the cell above and leave the value blank.
