Question regarding linking Excel to Access

Currently I have a report in Excel made up of various tables from Access that are imported to Excel via Microsoft Query and manipulated via macros/pivots. The report is used by people at various times during the day. The problem I have is when I have the Access file opened, the Microsoft Query in the spreadsheet stops working...

My question is what approach would you recommend I take with the either the Access file or Excel to allow me to edit Access without stopping all external queries from working (Microsoft Query anyway).

The same database can be accessed via IIS webserver while I have the Access file opened without any problem as long as I don't open the table the web page is requesting.

Any tips... suggestions...

Thanks,

Steve

Excel Facts

Why are there 1,048,576 rows in Excel?
The Excel team increased the size of the grid in 2007. There are 2^20 rows and 2^14 columns for a total of 17 billion cells.
Used a method in the past where a user requiring use of the Access db copied it to local drive.

Or you could copy your db to another folder for use by others so you can keep working

........... ?
