Re: Goal seek function in excel

Guys,

I am having some challenges with the MS Excel GOAL SEEK function. It worked alright for the first few times that I used it to work out the EFFECTIVE INTEREST RATE for the issuance of bonds.

However, it is now coming back with absurd results. Specifically, I am trying to get an amount currently stated as $57,263 [Set cell:] to $60,000 [To value:] [By changing cell] which currently holds the EFFECTIVE INTEREST RATE.

I am willing and able to share further details if and when required.

Comments much welcome and appreciation in advance.

Welcome to the forum.

What formula do you have in that cell? Are there any other cells that it references, if so what are their values?

Re: Goal seek function in excel

Eric,

So grateful for your response. I found a solution to this shortly after posting my message and yes it had to do with cells that had formulae in them as opposed to values. All sorted.

Thanks again.
