Restrict cell to input of currency value or "Not Known

Hi everyone,

I have been rying to save this problem foir weks,but am still nableto achieve what I want.

I have a column in which a value formatted to a monetary amount. However, if this is not available I want to limit the entry to "Not Known". I hav tried to nter data vlaidain to the column, using custom formatting and formula as: =or($##,###.00,"Not known") but cannot get this to work. Am I attempting the impossible or does someone have any idea how to achieve what I am trying to do? Any help will be appreciated. Thank you
