Hi, I've created a day/night shift rota which when I exceed my staff levels it highlights in as a minus number or when I have enough staff it goes to zero.

What I need is how can I highlight my error if I put someone in for a day shift if they are already down to work a night shift the previous day. i.e. Night followed by Day shift

Thanks

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
you need to use Conditional formatting on the home ribbon. select the 2 cells that you want to highlight duplicates and click on the conditional formatting tab, click on highlight cell rules, select duplicate values , press ok on the box that pops up

Hi Craig, worked perfectly thanks. Another question is there anyway I can highlight a Day shift that follows a night shift i.e. Nights on Monday and Tuesday followed by a Day shift on the Wednesday which wouldn't be practical.

Thanks

Alan

I would use the same conditional formatting that you have used for the duplicares but change the colour you are using to highlight
