Stop auto fit when using slicers

I have several pivots controlled by slicers. When I pick a filter the columns show ####. I cannot make it into a dashboard because I have to keep formatting the columns. I tried changing the format options in the pivot table but that did not work. The pivots hold time values if that matters.
