Hello All,

Here's the issue i'm having.

In cell A3 i have 66". I take the formula =INT(A3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(A3,12) & " in." which gives me 5ft. 6in. - PERFECT

Now I get lost. Lets say C3 is 66" as well. i need that to convert to (5ft. 6in.), then I need to multiply A3 and C3 together to get my square.

Here is what i tried =(INT(A3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(A3,12) & " in.")*(INT(C3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(C3,12) & " in.") but this kicks out a value error.

I also tried =SUMPRODUCT(INT(A3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(A3,12) & " in.")*(INT(C3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(C3,12) & " in.") still a value error.

So i basically need to convert A3 to Feet and Inches. C3 to feet and inches and multiply them together in one cell.

Looking for some help on how to correct that formula or alternative ways to do this.

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
So i basically need to convert A3 to Feet and Inches. C3 to feet and inches and multiply them together in one cell.
Going by your quote won't the formula below work i.e multiplying the 2 cells containing 66 together then converting to feet and inches?
=INT(A3*C3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(A3*C3,12) & " in."

or do you actually need to multiply the feet and inches separately (if this is the case can you manually work out and post the result you are expecting)

TylerGraham,

Welcome to MrExcel.

I take the formula =INT(A3/12) & " ft. " & MOD(A3,12) & " in." which gives me 5ft. 6in. - PERFECT

Suggests that A3 and C3 contain number values e.g. 66 not text 66" ????

If so then for text square footage answer maybe...

Excel 2007
ABCD
3666630.25 Sq Ft
Sheet13
Cell Formulas
RangeFormula
D3=A3*A3/144&" Sq Ft"

Hope that helps.
