Hello,

I'm trying to use VLOOKUP to return only the first two characters in the look up cell. How do I adjust a vlookup formula to accomplish that?

Standard VLookup
=VLOOKUP(CELL1,Sheet1:A:B,2,False)

Use Data, What-If Analysis, Goal Seek to find the correct input cell value to reach a desired result
If you're trying to return the left 2 characters of the lookup result, use:
=LEFT(VLOOKUP(CELL1,Sheet1:A:B,2,False),2)
If you're trying to lookup the left 2 characters, use what AliGW posted.

This is exactly what I needed! Thanks!
