Hi:

I have an INDEX and MATCH formula in column M with lookup values in column G and column K. The formula in column M returns required values. I’m trying to sort column M, so I highlighted data range, custom sort (a to z), but Excel sort appears to be a random order. But when I copy, paste special values Column M, sort is in proper order. Could someone tell why is sort of out order when INDEX and MATCH is in column M and what is a workaround since copy and paste special values is not a practical option?

Thank you very much.

Regards,

Sean

Hi:

Column M has text only (names that need to be sorted a-z).

Perhaps wrap your INDEX/MATCH formula within a TRIM function?
