Stop excel workbook from opening

I'm using excel 2016. I needed to import data from another computer that uses excel 2007. I used the import wizard and the data was imported as needed. The problem is now whenever I open excel or another workbook, a workbook also opens that has the data I imported. Why does this workbook continue to automatically open? Can it be stopped?

Thanks
Tom

Fastest way to copy a worksheet?
Hold down the Ctrl key while dragging tab for Sheet1 to the right. Excel will make a copy of the worksheet.
.
Where is the workbook located ? In other words, has the workbook or a copy of the workbook be found in the xlSTART folder ?

There may be other locations where the workbook location would cause this as well.

It is a csv file on another computer. I deleted the file and now when I start excel a message appears that the file cant be found. I checked the excel general and advanced options and there is nothing entered to start up when opening excel.

That would be my choice as well. For some reason I find others are not as likely to re-install the software.
I hope it turns out well. Let me know ?

Unbelievable. After reinstall, upon opening excel, the unwanted workbook opens. The panel along the left side showed the recovered files and when I right click on the unwanted workbook, the delete option is dimmed.

The file location is on another computer in the network. When I delete the workbook from the other computer, then open excel on my computer a message that file not found appears.

Hmmm ... I'm still suspecting the Registry or perhaps on the DATA tab .. look at the Connections and Get External Data sections.

I think I have success. I uninstalled and reinstalled excel on the computer the file was stored in.
