Default excel 365 for mac - how to ignore @ sign - autoformatting

    Hi MrExcellers,

I use a xls sheet as a help for keeping track of website user login and pwd's.
I know this isn't really best practice, but up to now it's still my most convenient solution.
Pwd's aren't conveyed in full, but represent a 'hint' that is obvious to me to help reconstruct the pwd as the need arises.

As most websites today insist on your pwd needing to contain special characters, or a specified minimal length, I tend to always include the @-sign.
This however triggers excel to format the cell contents as an email address, and makes it look like a link / email address.

Is there a way that I can have excel ignore this @ sign? (if the cell contents does not include a .(dot) e.g.)

    Thanks for helping out!

    Erwin

I assume the MAC version also uses a correction option in the Options.
You might consider turning that proofing option off in the Options.

Knowing that it can be done is half the battle!
