I thought there might have been a post about this, but I've been searching for about 2 hours with nothing.

I'm using Excel 2007 (compatibility mode 97-2003).

I import a table of numbers that appear in column A. They look similar to this (999-9-9-00). I need a complex conditional format in order to create a barcode in column B, of the number that appears in column A. All numbers have to have a * before and after the information (IE: *999-9-9-00*) in order for the barcode font to be scanable.

Is this possible?

Excel Facts

Copy PDF to Excel
Select data in PDF. Paste to Microsoft Word. Copy from Word and paste to Excel.
I might be misunderstanding, but is this what youre looking for?
Code:
="*"&A1&"*"
Copy and paste down as far as necessary.

not sure I understood your requirement correctly, may be this

In B2 conditional formatting -> Formula is

=AND(LEFT(A2,1)="*",RIGHT(A2,1)="*")

Thanks Nooch, and everyone else. I didn't realize '&' allowed the * to be displayed.

You all Rock.
