duplicating chart format

I have a chart that shows data pulled from one row in a sheet. I need t duplicate this chart each week and show that weeks numbers. Is there a quick/dirty way to dup that first chart and change the source data without having to build a new chart and all its colors/text etc each week

Hi,

Like any other object, you can copy and paste your chart (into a new tab, or somewhere else on the same worksheet), and then in your second copy, you can change the source data for the series to a new row or column of data.

All your formatting will stay the same that way. I do this quite a bit, since our department found a chart format they liked.

How 'bout a User-defined chart?

John,

Have you considered saving your chart as a user-defined type?

Create a chart and modify it to suit your needs.

Then right click on the chart and select "Chart Type ..."; select the "Custom Types" tab and then indicate the "User Defined" radio button, this will enable the "Add ..." button, click "Add ..". Give your chart type a unique name and you're finished.

Now when you want to use it just go to the "Custom Types" tab and select it.
