Dropdowns

I have seen in an Excel Spreadsheet where the dropdown
would follow or pop in, appear in which ever cell had the attention at the time and the only thing you could see was the arrow pointing down prior to clicking it and choosing what ever was in the dropdown/combo bx list. Please tell me that there is such!!!!
I would very much like to know how to insert and program this for a sheet I am working on.

On the top line menu pull-downs:
select "Data"
select the "Settings" tab
select "List"
add your list items (separate each item with a comma) in the box "Source"

This will give the active cell a pull-down selection list for the user to choose from for input. The user can also add any other data not on the list. To limit input to list items you need to use a macro or "Data Validation." Joe Was

previous post neglected to include "validation" from the Data menu. Then settings, list, source, etc.
