I have a spreadsheet with 400 names entered in rows, and 200 activities in the columns I would like to only the names that have a x in a particular column.
( btw, x could be x1, x2, x3, or x4 )

Thank you

Mark,

Those "reply" is not from me: the script that runs this site has lost its mind one again. Soory about that.

My reply was/is: Why not use Advanced Filter, which would select out all rows where an x (that is, x1, x2, etc) appears?

but the x1 x2 x3 x4 are used in all of the columns

Thank you for the reply but..... the x1 x2 x3 x4 are used in all of the columns, so how would I show the x1 x2 x3 x4 ( 8 entries spead over hundreds of rows )in just that one column.

Thank you again

Re: but the x1 x2 x3 x4 are used in all of the columns

Activate an empty cell, type =, select 5 rows of your data, hit CONTROL+SHIFT+ENTER at the same time, go the Formula Bar, select what you, hit F9. Copy everything between the curly braces and paste in the follow up along with what you want illustrated on the basis of this sample data.
