summing filtered values

I had an auto filter on a range of values. Trouble is when i summed a column it seemed to sum up all of the values instead of the filtered values.

Use
=subtotal(9,range)
instead on Sum...
The 9 above is the function No. for sum, you can also get averages/counts etc to get more help see excel help on this function.

Try using a subtotal command rather than a sum command:
e.g.
instead of say =sum(A1:A10) use =subtotal(9,A1:A10)
This will only add up the visible cells
