formula to exclude weekend days ?

I need a formula to determine the number of days it took to service an account.

Did you try the function NETWORKDAYS(startdate,enddate)? If you don't have it on your system, have a look at Contents and Index under Help. It's explained there what you need.

The dates are in a cell. example:
A1 = 1/31/2001
B1 = 2/7/2001
I tried the formula =networkdays(a1,b1)
the result is #name?
What am I doing wrong????

Go to Tools, Adds in and select Analysis ToolPak. Without this add-in Excel does not recognize the function.
