Repeating patterns of mutiple formulas by rows

I have a situation where I am trying to have line 1 in a result tab look at line 1 in a data tab. Then line 2 in the result tab look again at line 1 in the data tab. Then, have line 3 in the results tab look at line 1 again in the data tab.
After that, line 4 in the results tab would start to repeat the above pattern. I try to copy automatically by clicking and dragging downwards but have yet to find the proper way to make the pattern repeat correctly.

Marty, do you want rows 4:6 of your results worksheet
to refer to row 2:2 of your data worksheet?

sounds like you just need to anchor down the 1 by using a dollor sign? not exactly sure what you need but this make the 1 stay the same during copying. =A$1
