Column headings

How can I change the Column headings from A B C D E . to column headings of my choice?
I know I could switch off display of the headings, use row 1 for new headings and use the splitter bar to stop it scrolling, but that limits subsequent use of the splitter.
Any ideas?

You can hide any columns you don't want.

My choice doesn't include any of the current column headings! I want to change columns headings to, say, 50Hz 80Hz 100Hz 125Hz.

Why would using row 1 restrict subsequent use of the "splitter"?
