Convert PDF file to Excel - is it futile?

Hello,

I have a large report in PDF format which I would really like to convert into text/Excel format. Does anyone know how this can be done?

Cheers,
Dan

Try selecting everything and pasting it into Wordpad or Word. Save it as text, then use the Import Text feature in Excel.

Some .PDFs do not contain usable text, only image information. But if your .PDF does have usuable text, you should be able to select everything (using the text selector tool, or by using Edit > Select All), copy it, and paste it into another application.

a company called DataWatch makes an Acrobat add-in called Redwing which can copy text and tables out of PDF files into other applications. It's not cheap though, and I think you may have to have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, not just the reader.
