getting rid of scientific notation

Is there any way to shut off the apparent automatic scientific notation conversion in Excel? Ex: I enter "001E2"....and Excel assumes I mean "1.00E+02". Thanks.

Inform Excel you are not entering a number by using an apostrophe ' before you enter the number. That will make you entry text. Th apostrophe will not display.

Or...
Format the cell, row or column as "Text" before
you enter the value.
