Protecting Cells is causing Funtion to Stop working?

Hi there,
I am trying to protect some cells, so people can not erase stuff etc. But everytime I try to protect a cell, my pull down function stops working.
Thoughts?

what kind of a "pull-down" function are you talking about? validation or form controls?
if you are using a combo box control you can allow people to use the pull down menu, write their own stuff in, but unable to erase if you put your sourse code on a separate sheet, hide it and protect the workbook.
