I know everyone will think i'm retarded, but I don't know how to reference information from one workbook too another. Exactly what am I supposed to type or do?

use something like =[Book2]Sheet1!$A$1 (NT)

type "=" or "+" then click on the required cell in the desired worksheet within the required workbook with your mouse....
the result, if you're not manually typing it, will be exactly as Paul says.
As an aside, my Boss always types his links in manually, ditto numbers, as he says it forces him to appreciate where they come from, rather than just relying on the logic of links.... fair comment, but it gets inefficient after you reach a certain level of proficiency but then relevant once again, I guess, as you gravitate towards VBA coding.
