I'm new to Access and still trying to leave my Excel habits behind.

I have data like this:

Source Part Number Object Part Number Object Ranking
1 A 5
1 B 4
2 C 5
3 D 3
3 E 1
4 F 2
4 G 3

I want to average the object rankings if they share the same source part number. I'm trying to do this is a query.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Excel Facts

What do {} around a formula in the formula bar mean?
{Formula} means the formula was entered using Ctrl+Shift+Enter signifying an old-style array formula.
Do an Aggregate Query, just adding the Source Part Number and Object Ranking to the query.
Then click on the Totals button (looks like a Sigma), which will add a Totals Row under each field with the phrase "Group By" in it.
Change the Totals row value for the Object Ranking field from "Group By" to "Average", and you should get what you want!

Thanks, I understand where you're going with that, but I get an Overflow error. Any tips on a solution?

What is the Data Type of your Object Ranking field? Is it a number Data Type?
Do you have any non-numeric values in this field?
Or do you have any errors in any of the Source Part number fields?
