Bringing in cell with a value

Hi
I have two cells, A2 is blank and the other B2 has a value.

In a difference cell D2 i want do an if statement so it looks up both cells and brings back the cell that has a value in

Use =MROUND(A2,"0:30") to round to nearest half hour. Use =CEILING(A2,"0:30") to round to next half hour.
Is there always guaranteed to be exactly one entry in A2 and B2?
If so, one way:

=IF(A2="",B2,A2)

If there is always one value.

If numbers:
=SUM(A2:B2)

If text:
=A2&B2
