Hi.

I am trying to open up a data file and the following error message pops up.

"Excel cannot open the file 'XXXXXXXXXX.xlsx' because the file format or file extension is not valid. Verify that the file has not been corrupted and that the file extension matches the format of the file"

I am running Microsoft Excel 2007 and the file is saved in that format. I was using the file only yesterday so am not sure what could have happened.

Thank you in advance

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Try using the "Open & Repair" option in 2007. Click 'Open' and when the box pops up, where it says 'Open' there is an arrow at the side of it. Click the arrow and select "Open & Repair".

Hope this helps
