Change order of list in filter menu?

I would like to rearrange the order of the items listed in the menu that appears when I want to filter a list. Is this possible?

For an example, if I have a column of days of the week. When I want to filter this the days are listed in the menu alphabetically, Fri-Wed.

If I wanted them to instead be presented in the menu in the weekday order Mon, Tue, Wed..., or possibly in the order starting with Sun at the top and going through Sun-Sat

I know there are custom sorts possible on the data, but can't find any way to apply that sort of idea to the menu of available filter items.
