Hi Mr. Excel,

I'm using Excel 2007 and Windows XP.

1. General Question: I would like to have special formatting of a cell based on surrounding cells.

2. Background Info:
I use a form in Excel to follow the preparation of document at my company. The manager selects which documents we need via the "need" column, and whether or not the document needs to be "ready" soon.
Then others (myself included) check off that the document has been "filed," and then that the document is "approved."

I would like to set up a conditional formatting for the "ready" column, so that when an "X" is selected for the "ready" column it will fill the cell RED. (This I have already done.)

THEN I would like to set up Conditional formatting so that when "Xs" are selected in both the "Filed" and "Approved" column, then corresponding "Ready" column cell will turn GREEN.

This would be a visual indication that the document is filed, approved, and ready to go.

BUT I only want the cells that NEED to be ready to go to turn green. (If there is not an X in the ready column, then I don't want it to turn green. Even if there are X's in the Filed and Approved columns.)

3. Specific Values:

I hope you can help,

Thanks!

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
In case you can't see the link I posted...

My specific values are:

1. Need 2. Filed 3. Approved 4. Ready
(Red) (Green) (Green) (Red)

These are the colors I have set up right now. (X's are selected via a drop down menu.)

Once an X is in both 2. and 3., I would like the color of the cell 4(with an X) to turn Green. This would be a visual indication that the document is not "ready" to send.

Is there are way to do this?? Thanks!
