convert to date

so when i download data from a query,

the data column is 20201031 (ie 2020, october, 31). is there a way to convert this to a date format? i swear i remembeing doing it successfully once without having to use a formula...
 

Excel Facts

Will the fill handle fill 1, 2, 3?
Yes! Type 1 in a cell. Hold down Ctrl while you drag the fill handle.
You can do it with Text to columns & select YMD for the date style on page 3 of the wizard

Data TextToColumns Date YMD
N.B. I put dates in B4; you could use A4.
Format your dates to your preference.
