SOLVED!

Hello I have data in a matrix, I want to count values in 1 particular column of this matrix (say the second column, or the third column). The column is variable so I need a formula like :

COUNT (Range, Column, Criteria)

This formula does not exist. Could you please tell me a walk around ? I have tried DCOUNT but it does not work.

Do you hate GETPIVOTDATA?
Prevent GETPIVOTDATA. Select inside a PivotTable. In the Analyze tab of the ribbon, open the dropown next to Options and turn it off
You can use the index function to get 1 column (or row) of a D2 Range

Try

=COUNTIF(INDEX(Range,0,Column),Criteria)

Thx jonmo1. I have done it. In fact I have used this formula :

= COUNTIF( INDEX( Range, , Column), Criteria)

What I want to highlight is that the index formula gives the range I am interested in and I can pass this range to the countif formula.
