Is there a way to count the number of occurances in a range that are alpha numeric and the result of the formula that is in each cell within the range?

Thanks in advance

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
Can you give some samples of what you are trying to count exactly?

Hi,

Your current formula in I6: =COUNTA(B8:B42)-1-COUNTIF(B9:B42,0)

You can do this, it's not necessarily better, just another way: =COUNTIF(B8:B42,"=*")-1

I agree with that, although the = isn't necessary, it's the default.

=COUNTIF(B8:B42,"*")-1

Thanks to Scott & jtakw.
That is exactly what I needed, to simplify it.
The less it calculates the better!!
